Real glow doesn't come from a serum.
It comes from what's happening inside your body. And these six habits prove it.
1. Eat Cooked Tomatoes With Olive Oil
Most people eat tomatoes raw thinking that's the healthiest option. But heat actually increases the lycopene content in tomatoes by up to 300% by breaking down the cell walls and making it more bioavailable. Add olive oil and your body absorbs it even more effectively. Lycopene is one of the most powerful antioxidants for protecting skin against UV damage and reducing redness and inflammation. A simple tomato sauce cooked in olive oil is genuinely one of the best things you can eat for your skin.
2. Eat One Brazil Nut Every Day
Just one. That's all you need.
A single Brazil nut contains your entire recommended daily intake of selenium. Selenium is one of the most powerful antioxidant minerals for skin health. It protects skin cells from oxidative damage, supports thyroid function which directly affects skin clarity and has been linked in studies to reduced acne and improved skin elasticity. Most people are deficient and have no idea. One nut a day costs almost nothing and the impact on your skin over time is significant.
3. Swim in the Ocean
With summer coming this one is perfectly timed.
Seawater is naturally rich in magnesium, iodine, potassium and other minerals that your skin absorbs directly during a swim. Magnesium reduces skin inflammation and supports the gut microbiome which as we know shows up directly on your skin. Iodine has natural antibacterial properties that can help with breakouts. And the exposure to natural microorganisms in the ocean supports the diversity of your own microbiome in a way that no probiotic supplement can replicate. Get in the water as often as you can this summer. Your skin will show it.
4. Go to Bed at the Same Time Every Night
Consistent sleep timing is one of the most underrated skin habits that exists.
When your sleep is irregular your cortisol rhythm becomes irregular. Cortisol is your primary stress hormone and it is also one of the biggest drivers of collagen breakdown, adult acne and dull tired looking skin. Studies show that people with consistent sleep and wake times have measurably lower cortisol levels and significantly better skin health than those who sleep the same total hours but at inconsistent times.
Pick a bedtime. Stick to it every night this week. Your skin will start to reflect it faster than you expect.
5. Get 10 to 20 Minutes of Morning Sunlight
Before the sunscreen. Before the coffee. Just light.
Morning sunlight without sunscreen triggers vitamin D synthesis in your skin and vitamin D directly regulates skin cell turnover, supports your immune response in the skin and reduces inflammatory conditions including acne, eczema and rosacea. Studies also show that morning light exposure sets your cortisol rhythm for the entire day which as we've established is one of the most important things you can do for long term skin health.
Ten minutes outside first thing. No phone. Just sunlight. It sounds almost too simple — and that's exactly the point.
6. Walk for 20 Minutes Every Day
Walking is one of the most underestimated beauty habits available.
A 20 minute daily walk has been shown to reduce cortisol levels measurably and cortisol as we keep coming back to is one of the primary hormones responsible for collagen breakdown, premature ageing and inflammatory skin conditions. Walking also improves circulation which delivers oxygen and nutrients to skin cells, supports lymphatic drainage which removes toxins that contribute to dull skin and regulates blood sugar which is directly linked to acne and skin inflammation.
You don't need a gym. You don't need a programme. Just walk every day.
The Pattern You Might Have Noticed
Almost all six of these hacks work through the same mechanism — they reduce cortisol, support your microbiome or improve nutrient absorption.
Because glowing skin is not a skincare problem. It is a whole body problem. And when you start treating it that way the results are completely different to anything a product has ever given you.
